Comic legend Frank Skinner is to bring his latest stand-up show ‘30 Years of Dirt’ to Colchester’s Charter Hall on Friday 3 May 2024.
Following a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe and seven nights at the Lyric Theatre in London’s West End, Colchester Events is delighted to have secured the critically acclaimed show for the city.
Councillor Michelle Burrows, Colchester City Council Portfolio Holder for Culture Leisure and Heritage, said: “It’s fantastic to see Charter Hall fast becoming the ‘go to’ destination for the biggest names in UK comedy. As a much-loved comedian, the opportunity to see the legendary Frank Skinner perform so close to home will delight comedy fans across the city and beyond.”
What the critics are saying about ‘30 years of dirt’…
“He’s still got it… a comedy master… a masterclass in crowd work, with Skinner getting spontaneous laughs off every interaction…exquisite one-liners”
Steve Bennett, Chortle
“Skinner is never less than beadily alert…you come away happy that after 30 years Frank’s still dishing his dirt, and happier still that he can dish plenty more besides.”
Brian Logan, The Guardian
“Immaculately constructed…Skinner’s crowdwork is as sharp as ever…he can spool out a yarn every bit as entertainingly as prime-era Billy Connolly.”
Bruce Dessau, Evening Standard
The announcement comes just days after Colchester Events confirmed Ben Elton is to bring his new show ‘Authentic Stupidity’ to Charter Hall on 19 September 2024 adding to a year of comedy star billings that include Ed Byrne, Ed Gamble, Paul Smith, and Jimmy Carr, plus Rhod Gilbert in 2025.
Frank Skinner’s ‘30 Years of Dirt’ takes place at Charter Hall, Cowdray Avenue, Colchester CO1 1YH on Friday 3 May 2024 at 7.30pm.
