Colchester Fibre is thrilled to add Colchester Arts Centre to their full-fibre network in the city centre, marking an exciting step forward in connectivity for one of Colchester’s most vibrant cultural hubs.
Working closely with the dedicated management team at the Arts Centre, the Colchester Fibre installation team has successfully upgraded the site from its previous gigabit connection, provided by a point-to-multipoint radio network, to a high-capacity full-fibre link.
This upgrade unlocks the potential for speeds beyond gigabit, enhancing the Centre’s ability to support its dynamic schedule of music, poetry, performing arts, social, and community events.
Anthony Roberts, Director at Colchester Arts Centre, commented on the success of the installation: “We are delighted to have fibre broadband installed in the venue. Now that we are Hard Wired for Arts, the high-speed connectivity will make a real difference to our team and the artists we work with. It also opens up new portals for audiences to enter the arts. Whether this is through live captioning, subtitles, live streaming, integrated digital and performance works or any hybrid of these in between. The installation was made possible through the Small Grants Programme Supported by The Linbury Trust.”
Simon Coward, Managing Director of Amphora, added: “We are delighted to welcome Colchester Arts Centre to our full-fibre network. We’re fortunate to have such a vital cultural hub in our city, now with future-proof connectivity.”
Colchester Fibre is wholly owned by Colchester City Council and is operated by Amphora. Profits from the business are reinvested both into the Council and into increasing the availability of Colchester Fibre broadband across the city.
