There is now just one week to go until Colchester’s free Siege Spectacular weekend. Part of Colchester City Council’s Year of Celebration, the weekend will be commemorating and re-enacting the historic 73-day Siege of Colchester during the English Civil War.
Taking place from the 19-20 August, witness the battle and skirmishes, discover the sounds and smells of the living history encampment and meet Civil War soldiers and learn all about the weapons and artillery used in 1648. The event promises to be spectacular, with over 500 reenactors from the English Civil War Society bringing a part of Colchester’s past to life.
