This May half term, visitors to Colchester Castle beware! A group of colourful, but friendly mythical creatures have moved into Colchester’s historic building.
Enjoy a special encounter with the Castle’s resident dragons, Nuri and Ildri, feel their scaly skin, ask questions, listen to their tales and even brave a hug!
The most daring and intrepid visitors can embark on a fun Mythical Creatures tour with an apprentice creature spotter that will take them outside the Castle, up the historic Great Stairs and even onto the Castle roof to try and spot as many creatures as possible. Armed with pens and trail sheets you’ll learn more about these creatures as you head around the Castle! Don’t worry though, there are plenty of opportunities to stop, take a breather and enjoy some crafts, colouring and of course the gift shop where you can take home your very own mythical creature.
From the 6-8 May you can also join in the coronation celebrations by making your very own royal crown and learn all about Kings and Queens of the past with the help of some regally dressed characters who will be walking around the galleries ready to meet you.
Councillor Pam Cox, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Heritage, said: “This half term it's time to let your imagination go wild at Colchester Castle. Think dragons, unicorns, flying things and more, a perfect fun packed day out for the whole family.”
