High Woods Country Park will soon have a new playground
The playground will contain a range of equipment suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities that will include swings, multi-play and inclusive play units, seating and landscaping features.
Cllr Julie Young, Colchester Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Housing and Communities, said: “We have a regular maintenance programme for all our playgrounds to ensure the equipment is safe, and the equipment at the much-loved High Woods County Park has come to the end of its usable life.
“However, this is a great opportunity to refresh the play area and create a new bespoke playground that is designed to ensure maximum accessibility and enhance and protect both the landscape and wildlife in the area.
“It will be the perfect place for the whole family, drawing its inspiration from the wider High Woods Country Park woodland site, and I look forward to see the final design in the coming weeks.”
The current playground will be closed from Monday, 23 January 2023. The work to create the new play area will be carried out over the coming months and will open in spring 2023.
