Colourscape comes to Castle Park this July

PUBLISHED: 23 June 2022

Castle Park will transform into a magical world of colour, music and dance, when Colourscape comes to Colchester on the weekend of 16 and 17 July 2022.

Eye Music Trust will present Elemental Symphonies in Colourscape – an outdoor experience which invites audiences of all ages to enter a labyrinth of spectacular, sun illuminated, coloured chambers as they make their way on ‘a journey of the senses’ towards the silver performance dome.

Musicians Michael Ormiston, Ansuman Biswas, Beibei Wang, David Stevens and Lawrence Casserley will perform new music on unusual instruments, from Chinese percussion and Tibetan Singing Bowls to water-phones, flowerpots and even twigs.  The entrancing soundtrack, inspired by metal, air, wood, water and earth, will be brought to life by dancers, Lisa Rowley and Tanya Richam-Odoi.

Cllr Adam Fox, Portfolio Holder for Local Economy & Transformation and Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “This unique event will transform Castle Park into an exciting world of music, dance and colour which will fascinate audiences of all ages. It’s another great addition to our summer programme, which is jam-packed with live music, comedy, festivals, theatre and sport to attract people from across the borough and the wider region to our vibrant city.”

Supported by Arts Council England, Colourscape’s ‘Elemental Symphonies’ is currently touring the UK.

Tickets are on sale now from just £3 per person. Visitors can enter the labyrinth at 30-minute intervals throughout each afternoon from 11am – 4pm.
