There’s a warm welcome and a fresh new look at one of Colchester’s most popular attractions, from tomorrow (20 November 2021), when the High Woods Country Park Visitor Centre reopens after a refit.
The enhanced visitor experience is all thanks to work which has seen a new counter installed, accessible automatic doors fitted and the addition of a new machine serving filtered coffee.
The makeover, which was furnished from £25,000 of capital funds topped-up with around £3,000 of Section 106 money (contributions made by developers towards open spaces and community facilities), also brings the Visitor Centre fully into compliance with the latest disability and equality legislation.
Cllr Beverley Oxford, Portfolio Holder for Communities, said: “I am delighted we have been able to make our award-winning park an even more attractive and welcoming place for people to visit.
“These new and upgraded facilities are just what today’s visitors expect, and rightly deserve, and couldn’t have come at a better moment – as increasing numbers of people come to realise the importance of reconnecting with nature and exploring local green spaces for their health and wellbeing.”
High Woods Country Park visitor centre is open every day between 10am-4pm. Please check visitor centre and car park opening times before you visit at www.colchester.gov.uk/country-park/
