Colchester Borough Council has launched a Click and Collect service for recycling containers.
After a successful trial of Click and Collect for garden sacks in April and May, residents can now order free replacement recycling containers online and collect them from a local stockist.
Initially this new service has two collection locations: West Mersea Town Council office and Colchester Foodbank in Stanway. If successful, the council will look to offer more pick-up locations in the future.
Residents can order:
- Green Box for cans or glass (must be separated)
- Food Caddy (kerbside and kitchen) for food waste
- Clear Bags for paper/cardboard or plastics (must be separated)
- Garden Sacks for those with a sack garden waste collection
This new Click and Collect system is a more sustainable process, working in partnership with local community organisations and businesses across the borough. Delivery will remain an option for any residents not in an area covered by a pick-up location, those residents with an assisted collection, or those requiring a wheelie bin.
Councillor Simon Crow, Colchester Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sustainability, said: “I’m delighted that we’re rolling out this new Click and Collect system, making it easier for residents to order and pick up recycling containers at a time that suits them.
“I hope this new system will support everyone in Colchester to recycle more and help to reduce the impact of climate change.”
