This summer, Colchester families are invited to dive into a world of creativity and imagination as artist Dale Connelly from Action Art Play brings his unique blend of art to Greenstead Library.
Funded by Public Health funding, these free Sand Art Play sessions will be held at Greenstead Library from Tuesday to Thursday, 29–31 July, between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm.
This exciting pop-up event will transform the library into a beach-themed Story Garden, filled with fun, hands-on activities designed to spark creativity, support emotional wellbeing, and encourage community connection.
No booking is required – simply drop in! All materials are provided, and activities are suitable for children of all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult). Children can also earn a Summer Reading Challenge sticker just by joining in.
Councillor Jocelyn Law, Portfolio Holder for Communities and Public Protection at Colchester City Council, said: "We’re proud to support creative, inclusive events that bring local families together over the summer holidays. Art Play is a fantastic way for children to express themselves, have fun, and stay engaged during the break – all for free and right in the heart of the community."
Join children’s artist Dale in the pop-up coastal Story Garden – a great summer activity out for families who enjoy books and fun activities.
