Following our previous press release regarding the deadline to apply for Pension Credit and the Winter Fuel Payment this year, we wish to alert residents about scam emails and texts claiming to be from the Government.
These fraudulent messages request personal details, such as bank information, to process an individual’s Winter Fuel Payment application. They often include a contact number or a link to fake websites and threaten disqualification and redistribution of funds if action is not taken by 10 December 2024.
We remind residents never to share personal information, including bank details, National Insurance numbers, or other sensitive data, unless you are certain of the legitimacy of the request. Please note that the Government will not ask for personal details over the phone.
We strongly urge residents to exercise caution and verify the identity of anyone requesting personal or financial information before responding. For more information and application of Winter Fuel Payment, visit the official website here www.gov.uk/pension-credit.
