Colchester Castle is thrilled to announce Cosmic Castle, an enchanting evening event that promises a fascinating exploration of the cosmos. Taking place on the 11 October, visitors will take part in a variety of engaging activities set against the historic backdrop of one of the country's most historic landmarks.
The evening will feature a planetarium experience, offering a close-up view of the stars and planets. Expert-led talks help you understand more of the night sky, while space-themed craft will provide hands-on fun for attendees of all ages. Weather permitting, guests will also have the rare opportunity to gaze at the moon through a telescope, from the roof of Colchester Castle.
Cllr Natalie Sommers, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Heritage and Public Protection said, “This event is a unique blend of history and astronomy. We’re excited to offer an evening where visitors can connect with the universe in such a meaningful way, all within the walls of our iconic castle. Visitors will also be able to view Gaia to complete their evening and create some wonderful memories.”
This event is proudly supported by the Tiptree Stargazer volunteers, whose passion and expertise in astronomy have helped make this evening possible.
