Following an extensive consultation period, a public hearing will be held to review the Development Plan Document (DPD) for the Tendring Colchester Borders Garden Community (TCBGC).
This hearing, known as an Examination in Public (EiP), will assess if the DPD meets local and national planning guidelines. The hearing sessions, which are part of the overall EiP, are scheduled to take place between Tuesday 7, May and Friday, 10 May 2024.
An initial programme for the hearings can be viewed in the Matters Issues & Questions (MIQs) and Draft Hearings Programme. A final version of the programme will be published around two weeks prior to the start of the hearings. Hearings commence at 1pm on 7 May 2024.
Further comments are not being collected as part of this process; all previous consultation responses form part of the documentation, and those who have already made representations on the DPD can participate in the hearings.
The Tendring Colchester Borders Garden Community is a proposed new settlement located between Colchester, Ardleigh, Wivenhoe, and Elmstead Market. The development aims to create a sustainable and vibrant new community with essential facilities and infrastructure.
The Development Plan outlines the vision and policies that will guide the development of the garden community. It covers various aspects, including land use, housing, infrastructure, and community facilities.
The project has benefitted from extensive public engagement throughout the development process. A public consultation exercise ran from 15 May to 25 June 2023 where all comments received from residents and stakeholders were submitted to the Planning Inspectorate for consideration alongside the DPD.
The finalised DPD will guide future planning applications for the Garden Community.
