Support is available for local people who are experiencing acute financial pressures.
As the cost of living continues to rise across the UK, with increased energy prices, living expenses, and the ongoing impact of Covid-19, Colchester Borough Council has launched a suite of support webpages, which signpost to a range of information and practical support available to residents, communities and businesses.
Cllr Lissimore, Colchester Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Resources, said: “As the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic continues, alongside an increased cost of living, we are seeing households who were already struggling to make ends meet, facing a perfect storm as fuel and food prices rise as incomes are squeezed further.
“We are always here to support all our residents, businesses and communities with practical advice, help with applications for financial support payments and in finding employment for those that need it. We have pulled all the support together in one place so it’s easy for people to find the information they need.”
The council directly supports residents by helping them to maximise income to help pay their bills and rent. This includes checking benefit entitlement, as well as debt management, employment advice and wider financial support. It will also signpost to partner agencies for help accessing food and tackling isolation.
Businesses can find information about financial support and ongoing advice about working safely during the Covid-19 pandemic. Communities can find out about key community contacts, and community initiatives across the borough.
