It is important that households remember that there is a three 60-litre black bag allowance on a Blue Week. Residents with a wheeled bin collection should check that their bin lids are firmly shut for the safety of our crews.
The following instructions will ensure that we can collect your rubbish and deliver an efficient service across the city.
Black bags
- Unless you have an exemption, you should only put out a maximum of 3 x 60-litre black bags on your Blue Week collection day.
- Our crews will place a sticker on any excess bags to let you know that the limit has been exceeded.
- Due to the demands on our service, we will not be able to return to collect any excess waste left beside wheelie bins.
- If you do have any excess waste, this can be taken to your nearest recycling centre.
Rubbish collection exemption arrangements will continue as usual.
Wheeled bins
- Make sure that the lids on wheeled bins are always fully closed to enable collection. If they are partially open, our crews will not be able to safely move and empty them.
- Keeping bin lids shut is crucial to the health and safety of your neighbourhood crew and to ensure the vehicle equipment is not overloaded.
- Customers in wheeled bin areas who have an exemption will be provided with a larger bin and/or a second bin.
- Due to the demands on our service, we will not be able to return to collect any excess waste left beside wheelie bins.
- If you do have any excess waste, this can be taken to your nearest recycling centre.
Rubbish collection exemption arrangements will continue as usual.
